Sync your Entra directory
Create and update SimplyDo accounts from Microsoft Entra ID.
SimplyDo can copy people from your Microsoft Entra ID into your organisation before they’ve ever signed in. That way you can put them in groups or include them in announcements ahead of time.
Before you start, make sure your Microsoft account can read your directory (the Directory.Read.All permission). SimplyDo syncs on behalf of whoever connects it.
- In Admin, open Settings, select Sign-on and click Manage on the Microsoft card.
- At the bottom of the page, click Connect to Microsoft Entra ID and sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Back in SimplyDo, turn on Enable Microsoft Entra ID sync.
- Choose what to sync:
- Organisation syncs your whole directory. To sync only some people, you can enter a Microsoft Graph filter, for example
$filter=accountEnabled eq true, and click Save. - Custom groups syncs only the groups you pick. Click Add group next to each one.

How the sync works
Section titled “How the sync works”- It runs every night. Recent Microsoft Entra ID syncs shows when it last ran and how many accounts it created and updated.
- People it hasn’t seen before get a new account. People whose details changed, such as a new name or email address, are updated.
- It never removes accounts. To clear out accounts nobody uses, set up a rule in your administration settings.
- It uses the same attribute mappings as sign-in with Microsoft.
